Couples weeping with joy in feeling reunited, and grateful to feel that their partner is again lover and friend. Dispute Resolution, Esprit-de-Corps. Life is better!

THE MAXWELL STUDY GROUP

Learn about yourself and others through the study of psychology.

Study dimensions of character. Use this information for self-improvement,

More dependable success, better relationships, and, most of all,

More peace of mind!

Join a weekly study group; no academic background

is required. Only the motivation and curiosity.

Why should you study psychology?

Psychology is a field of study that gives you greater understanding of yourself,

your behavior, your problems, and why people respond to you the way they do.

Why not learn about yourself and other people?

About how to recognize predispositions, patterns, consequences.

Learning strategies for avoiding repeated difficulties is a great potential reward!

CAN YOU RECOGNIZE YOURSELF AND OTHERS?

Read below. There are dimensions of personality that can make interpersonal puzzles intelligible!

Who do you see when you read this list? Are you ready to learn about how

to make these understandings useful, thus becoming less troubled and more successful?

Here are some patterns that standardized psychological testing
can reveal about yourself, and others
:

* Reserved, detached, critical, aloof, stiff

* Outgoing, warmhearted, easygoing, participating

* Concrete, non-insightful, few associations

* Abstract, insightful, deep

* Affected by feelings, emotionally volatile, changeable

* Emotionally stable, faces reality, calm

* Humble mind, easily led, accommodating

* Assertive, aggressive, dominant, competitive

* Sober, serious, non-enthusiastic

* Happy-go-lucky, care-free, enthusiastic

* Expeditious and expedient, not governed by rules

* Conscientious, staid, moralistic, persistent

* Threat-sensitive, timid, shy

* Bold socially, adventuresome, enjoys excitement

* Realistic, self-reliant, and tough-minded

* Sensitive, responsive to the emotional dimensions, open to mood of others, permeable

* Trusting, believing that all is for the best

* Suspiciously cautious, hard to fool, guarded about others' motives

* Practical, down-to-earth, believing in what you can experience directly

* Governed by ideas and systems of ideas

* Forthright, blunt, direct, unpretentious

* Socially aware of others' responses, tactful, gracious, "nice"

* Self-confident, placid, free-of-guilt

* Self-blame, un-confident, guilt-ridden

And others, too:

Traditional vs. Liberal

Joiner vs. Self-Sufficient

Social-rules-follower vs. Following-own-urges

Composed and tranquil vs. Driven and overwrought

*[Modeled from well-known elements-of-personality tests].

  Other reasons for learning Psychology:

You will understand why things repeatedly go wrong,
or seem to happen over and over again.

Psychology is a field of study that provides people with a greater understanding of behavior of other people and of other living things. Whether students wish to use their knowledge to gain entrance directly into the job market or whether they plan to continue further study, The Maxwell Study Group of Toronto is committed to providing a program geared to the needs of the individual student. A certificate of attendance will gladly be provided. Although not qualifying as an academic credit, it may increase your credibility in acquiring jobs requiring interpersonal skill and understanding.

This program could help you gain employment as:

·        high school and junior high school teachers,

·        aids in psychological or psychiatric therapy units,

·        industrial testing specialists, social service coordinators, child abuse case workers,

·        public relations specialists, welfare case workers, psychologists' assistants,

·        behavior measurement recorders, rehabilitation case workers,

·        mental hospital program coordinators, foster care workers, child day-care case workers,

·        scientific consultants, ward attendants, job performance evaluators, job analysts,

·        personnel placement and recruitment officers, consultants, consumer behavior analysts, management trainees, interviewers,

·        data collectors and analysts, organizational developers, laboratory research assistants, and many more.

With continued education they could become:

·        counselors, school psychologists,

·        professors, or to do psychological research.

·        Others will attend law school, medical school,

·        or do further graduate study in economics, education, business, biology, physical therapy, and other areas as well.

According to the American Psychological Association, Psychology is currently the most popular of all areas granting bachelor's degrees. In the USA, about 50,000 bachelor's degrees a year are currently being awarded to psychology majors. Although these studies may assist you in getting academic credits, they are no university accredited. However, the understandings you will gain may move you towards recognition and knowledge towards further studies in this field.

You will find as you investigate the field of psychology, that it is the study of human and animal behavior, the accumulation of scientific methods used in psychology, as well as the application of these methods and knowledge to benefit mankind.
